It now seems inevitable to me that the notion of integrated reporting will gain increasing credence in business.
It's going to be hard to do, and will involve serious cultural change in business. Not least, as John Elkington points out, among CFO's.
Our 2008 report on embedding CR in large companies certainly showed this to be true, particularly in the finance section. More on that, here.
I still think it's quite a way off, perhaps five years, before we see it done really well, or beginning to be.
But it's clear that it is essential if we want the big missing link (aside from governments), finance, to take responsible and sustainable business seriously.
